You’re invited to the ArtSeen Studio Tour in Frisco this weekend — October 19 and 20!   This is Frisco’s third annual art tour, featuring 16 artists — painters, printmakers, photographers, sculptors and mixed media artists — and two public exhibits. Many favorites are returning this year, plus a group of new artists have joined the tour.    Print out a tour MAP to see where the studios are located.  The artists will have lots of work exhibited and for sale, and many of them will be working on projects during the tour.  This is a great time to see their workspaces, ask them questions and add to your art collection.

The fun actually starts on Friday night, with a Kickoff Party at thegallery8680.  Mix and mingle with the tour artists, along with other local art lovers, while lounging bohemian-style in the “Modern Nostalgia” installation by Swanky Couch (swankycouch.com).  There will be a free viewing of the movie “Moonrise Kingdom,” along with hors d’oeuvres and libations.  The party starts at 7:00pm and goes until at least 9:00pm. Thegallery8680 is located at 8680 W. Main Street in Frisco.

SHADE

On Saturday and Sunday, while you’re visiting the studios, stop by the Frisco Discovery Center to see the Visual Arts Guild of Frisco’s Fall Member Show, “Shade:  Aesthetics in Black, White and Gray.”     There will also be three artists to visit at the Frisco Discovery Center — Leon Robertson, Danna Gann and Jane Damon — so it’s a stop you don’t want to miss.

Artists who will be in  studios all over town will be  Thomas Jordan, Tom Freeman, Ron Sexton, Barbara J. Mason, Beejae Hawkins, Misty Oliver-Foster, Carolyn M. Nelson, T. Scott Stromberg, Robert Wedepohl (also at thegallery8680), Jennifer Monet Cowley, Wendi McGowan-Ellis, Brenda G. Thomas, and Brad Sharp.  Find out about each artist by clicking their name, or visiting the ArtSeen web site.

The weather is supposed to be perfect, so grab a coffee, a friend and a TOUR MAP for a fun day of touring studios!  The tour is self-paced ,  free, and fun for the whole family. Tour maps and information about the exhibiting artists and shows can be found at www.artseentour.com.
